back from gunung rajah. blogging while everything is still fresh in the mind. :)

rajah is an excellent place. the company was wonderful and the whole trip was totally worth it :) right now, just caught the first sbs bus back to singapore, yet to wash up n sleep...but before all that...jus wanna blog down stuff. *if i m not toting coherently, try n understand. right now feeling tired, drained and really bruised*

THE CLIMB
definately not easy! dehydration was definately one huge problem was climbing. at times, one would really feel lye giving up, esp when u see a really long path of uphill path stretched out in front of u. if not for the guys who kept encouraging us and pushed us on, we could have taken longer to climb up. the whole journey was 10 hrs. gosh! started at ard 8+ ended at ard 6+. had a wonderful guide who was sooo nice to wait for us at various points where the gals really need a rest cos we were panting so hard after each steep climb. jus past the mid-way point, des was really nice to help me carry my water and my load became much lighter and easier to climb too! had it not been him encouraging me to keep smiling at each rest point and toting to me to entertain me, the climb would definately seem longer! haas, same to gh for giving me tips and kept toting to me :) wells i realised that it is really not easy to encourage someone while one is feeling tired too...haas so i couldn't give any encouragement cos i was the one dying! and poor yk who has to carry up the four men tent for the 2 gals to sleep in...oops feeling guility that his backpack is much much heavier than the rest...

nearing the end, the guide had to lead us up by bashing thru the jungle cos some landslide occured i think. gosh, talking about the guide, wow he was impressive! this was no challenge to him! haas he even told us he could climb up n run down in 5 hrs!!! wow!! had really lots of cuts from the plants and lots of leech bites too!! (at least now i know how a leech looks lye) overall, the climb was slow, steady and eventually we made it up :) now i know that if i m going to climb again, i need to find really strong and patient guys to lead n take care of us along the way cos it is seriously not easy for them!)

THE VIEW
wells our dinner was not bad :) spagatti with longan for deserts. everyone was so tired that after dinner we jus wanna sleep without even seeing the night view. haas apologies to minrui for not being so keen on watching stars with u! cos i really want to sleep! was seriously sleep-deprived. turned in at 9pm (haas i know it is really early but we jus couldn't take it anymore)

initially we all planned to watch sunset n sunrise tgt but both failed cos at both times it was too cloudy. the wind there was so cold that i was shivering and curled up in the tent despite the windbreaker i had. even the flysheet was flying was the pegs thrown off by the wind! haas yes it was super cold n the poor guys were out there under their 'shelter' shich was jus a flysheet. invited them to come into our tent but they were so cold that they were all hundled up in the jackets and ponchos, refusing to bulge! (wow have to really thank them for the tent and have to let them brave the wind elements out there)

finally we decided to go to the summit to see the view from the top of the mountain jus before our descend. GOSH! the view was BREATHTAKING!! offers a 360 view!! could see genting, titiwasa etc etc...haas i can't rmb much of the names though des was naming it for us...so lovely until i jus wanna stay there n not leave the place! gosh i still rmb seeing lots of mountains in the midst of clouds....really lovely view! haas maybe describe more when i received the photos from des!! haas we all took lots n lots of photos thoughout the trip thanks to des! in fact he told us that it offers one of the best views from the many many climbs he had went to...hohoho so i guess seeing the view beats all the tiredness of climbing!! cos that was my motivation for the climb!

THE DESCENT
eventually we had to make our way down. haas for me the descent was seriously painful, so painful that i almost wanted to cry half-way down! haas prob most ppl wld be wondering isn't going down much easier than climbing up? haas i think my shoe wasn't exactly comfortable and my footing wasn't right. landed on my poor toes...right now, having blueblacks on a couple of toes including my 2 big toes. haiz seems lye my nails are coming off soon alr! was wobbling down the way, esp the parts where the descend was so steep!! haas...poor yk has to walk so slowly behind me cos i was inching forward. luckily that was only for certain parts. eventually the slope was more gentle and my journey down wasn't as miserable. haas n i fell down so many times cos my legs were rather wobbly, haas if u r walking behind me, u would be asking me to be careful every few steps and probably laughing at how i kept falling! knocked my head a couple of times and almost twisted both my ankles too! *sigh so much injuries...so right now i m really bruised. lye wat the rest said, seems lye mr n myself jus went thru a war...

HOME SWEET HOME
eventually had our dinner at 'chinatown' where des recommended us to bak gu teh....*smacks lips* delicious! after which we went to some common walkway n jus sat down n talk while waiting for our midnight bus from kl to ?? oops i forgot the place. den had our breakfast at mac and waited for the first 170 bus to bring us back to singapore. gosh crossing the causeway point was scary in the wee hrs of the morning! lots of motorbikes jus zoomed ard despite being a pedestrian path. in the end we decided to walk back to the woodlands checkpoint after missing 2 buses and looking at the chaotic situation...home was the nxt destination :)

overall, this personal trip to gunung rajah was wonderful cos the guys really accommodated us and try n made the trip entertaining so that our climb would be easier. des n yk are really experienced clmbers and know the places really well though it was everyone's first time there! because of their experience, we learnt lots about mountain climbing n other outdoors stuff...was a really enriching experience and seriously maxed out my poor muscles...shall upload the photos when they arrive!! :) now i need a rest before a swenson's treat!! horray! :)
